Currently, this topic is directly correlated to me because I am applying for companies and honestly that is little bit wound up. However, this is really important to be well-prepared prior to interview. I was looking for some videos through YouTube and found this relevant video. In this video, the woman mainly discuss about a common question " Why do you want to work here?" Also, I personally think that this is pretty basic question but crucial, so all the applicants will be asked. Therefore, we need to be ready for it. Otherwise, we won't win a victory in job market. As modern society is becoming increasingly specialized and competitive, today's job markets require job candidates with such a high degree of expertise so that company research is necessary. you can learn how you answer about the interview question and practice a lot. People say job candidates need to get just one victory no matter how many times they lose. :)
Ted Talk by Dan Gilbert: The surprising science of happiness
How we use material to practice non-native language
This Ted Talk is what I chose to practice as a tool of shadow speaking practice.
I was assigned to do 5 ways of doing this in this week and I tried those 5 methods : Listen/Whisper, Listen/Repeat, Listen/Shadow Read, Listen/Record, Do as I pleased. I believe that the best way I do for this practice is both Listen/Whisper and Listen/Shadow Read. The first time I listen to it and try to copy the way he speaks such as intonation, accent, flow, and rythm. Whisper what he said is good way for the first time. Then, if I get used to his speaking, I do the shadow read way. Record and listen is needed at the end of this stage to get feedback on my own.
In conclusion, I found out myself that it is really interesting and useful way when I want to learn native speaker's pronunciation and flow of speech. Therefore, recommend we keep doing this practice, also, have one native speaker as a target.
I am going to introduce what kind of project I am planning to do for the rest of this semester. Does anyone like Korea baseball league rather than MLB? If yes, you will find a very interesting things in my blog. Korea basball league has 10 teams including KT, a newbie joined in this year. I am really big fan of Korea baseball and love to watch baseball at ballpark. There are lots of crazy fans, cheering so passionately and cheering songs are really crative and fun. That's reason why I like going to ballpark to enjoy a game. Especially, I am NC Dinos's fan because of its hometown as me. So, I am going to blog and report NC's game. Moreover, I will post the top 5 plays from an amazing week such as nice catches, hits, and plays. In case I am in the ballpark, you can hear it right from ballpark such as atmosphere, cheering, and interview of fans.
On March 23, we have discussed about relationship related matters. In my group, we have a brainstorming with regard to the question Do's and Don'ts on the first date. There were lots of things to do or not to do in aspect of men and women. In our group, questions are about clothes, paying, places, make-ups, restaurant, food, etc. I personally think that is solely depending on situation and who's going to be set you up with. In this video, however, they categorize best behaviors on each side of genders and Do's & Don'ts. Also, they mention universal mistake happened on the first date. Watch it before going on a date. First impression is lasting impression. I sum things up Do's 1) Be polite 2) Be on time(punctual) 3) Have question in mind 4) Yes! to creative date 5) Dress smart 6) Compliment on her (or him) 7) Soul searching for long-term relationship 8) Do bring small gift(Not fancy) 9) Eye contact (Not too much) Could be smothered 10) Being who you are Don'ts 1) Put the phone down (Do not phubbing) 2) Don't smell (But, Do not chew gums) 3) In case of Inviting women out to eat, Do not split the bill 4) Don't be used (Do not take somewhere expensive) 5) Don't be fool 6) Don't get drunk 7) No negative zone (be more likely to agree with) 8) No sex talk 9) Don't invite her home Source Video : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8O6MlA29fXc
Benny Lewis - Fluent in Three Months Rapid Language Hacking
1. Why is it interesting?
As for students of BUFS, I think that it is really important to learn new languages not only for major. Students are yearning for new languages. However, I found some people around me are seriously struggling with getting it. In this video, there are several reasons why we are not able to learn it quickly and effectively. I am not a linguist though, I was just looking for some useful video that will have a beneficial influence on learning new languages. Think myself, this is impressive and feasible.
2. Learning Point
The interesting thing in this video is we have a lot of opportunity to do the follow-suit in University. There are many students who are from different countries. First, Benny(speaker) is emphasizing on speaking it regardless of grammar because grammar might be playing as a barrier to speak. He tried to study Spanish while living in Spain. He studied hard, read a book, and took a class but it didn't work well. Then, he decided to speak it. After couple of months, he could speak Spanish fluently. He thought himself that he was not born with language gene, talented and had a bad memory. Moreover, he heard of people saying 14 years is the cut-off to learn new languages. Nevertheless, things were turned around. By the time he learned how to speak, he studied grammar. It was more interesting and really easy to understand why they(native speaker) speak in the way grammatically. The most crucial thing in learning new languages is speaking and repeat it until it stuck in your mind. Do not put yourself into grammar box. Put it aside. Otherwise, you cannot speak freely. Think languages are just tool of communication. Ignore excuses Do it, Speak it, Stock it Source Video : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HZqUeWshwMs
I ,first, started listening to his music was his initial solo album which was come out in 2005, In My Mind. I was crazy over that album so it was played day-in and day-out not for weeks, but months. Apparently, his music has a super natural power itself because whenever I listen to it, I feel so great. It is like hot air balloon that could go to space, in deed literally. Also, I found out that there is a video taken by Filipinos on YouTube after they underwent typhoon(Haiyan), swept across Philippines, in 2014. They wanted to get over the difficulties by playing "Happy". Happiness is infectious.
Listen to it and get happy virus.
What makes you think this song has got a Grammy Award and nominated at lots of Awards...?
